The data controller
netdog.ai is run by a private individual as a non-commercial hobby project; there is no registered company behind it. The data controller is that individual; you'll find their contact details under Contact.
What we collect
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture — for the picture, we only store its URL, we don't download or save the image file itself. In Settings you can add a phone number, address, city and country. We also store the data of the dogs you record (pedigree data, health screenings, exhibition results, price, photos) and the images you upload for pedigree extraction. There's no separate, account-level event history: events are always tied to a dog, and your account may appear on them as a user, for example as the dog's owner or as whoever performed the action.
Legal basis for processing
We process the data needed to create your account under the performance of the free usage agreement you enter into with us. We process your dogs' data and photos on the basis of your voluntary consent when you record them. Making your contact details public is also based on consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings, they'll disappear from your profile. Deleting your account does not remove the dogs you've recorded, see Data retention.
What we use it for
We use this data to run the pedigree registry, handle dog transfer and collaboration requests, compile breed statistics, and let other users contact you if you've enabled that in Settings.
Use of AI
To automatically extract data from pedigree photos, we use OpenAI's API (a US-based provider), which only receives the pedigree image you upload. We don't store the image ourselves, we only forward it for processing. By default, the OpenAI API doesn't use the image to train its models, and keeps it for at most 30 days for abuse monitoring before deleting it. Since OpenAI processes the image outside the EU, this counts as a transfer of data outside the EU, for which OpenAI applies Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). We only use this feature when you yourself choose to upload a pedigree photo.
Data processors
To run the service we use the following third-party providers: Google for sign-in (we only receive your name, email address, and profile picture from it), Microsoft Azure (EU, West Europe region) for our servers, database, and storing uploaded images, Cloudflare for domain management, DNS, and content caching, and OpenAI (USA) for AI-based processing of pedigree photos.
Data retention
We keep your data until you delete your account. When you delete your account, your own profile and contact details are deleted. The pedigree data of the dogs you've recorded remains, since it may also be part of other dogs' family trees, but that data isn't personal data about you, it's facts about the dogs themselves. The dogs' administrator field and any user reference in the event history are also cleared on deletion, so nothing that remains is still linked to you.
Data security
The connection is encrypted (HTTPS). Because sign-in is password-less and Google-based, we don't store any passwords. Access to our systems is restricted by permission levels.
Children's data
Under our Terms of Service, the service may only be used by people 16 or older, so we don't knowingly collect data from children under 16. We don't ask for your age at signup, so we don't actively verify this. But if someone lets us know, for example a parent or the user themselves, that an account belongs to someone under 16, we'll delete it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access your data, request its correction or deletion, restrict its processing, object to it, and request data portability. You can update your profile and contact details at any time in Settings, and permanently delete your account there as well. You can view the events tied to you on the History page. Complaints and remedies
If you feel we've violated your data protection rights, first write to us: you'll find our contact details under Contact. You can also file a complaint with the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH) (1055 Budapest, Falk Miksa utca 9-11, www.naih.hu, ugyfelszolgalat@naih.hu), or turn to a court.
